Maya Harris' mission is to BE the change she wants to see in today's society. A Certified Rehabilitation Counselor, Maya has 16 years of experience working with individuals with disabilities. She was a team member of the Succeed Program's Work Pillar from 2016 - 2020, before setting up her private practice, MJ's Coaching Corner, LLC. Maintaining ties with the Office of Inclusive Post-Secondary Education, Maya was invited to be an adjunct professor to first- and second- year Succeed Program students. Maya currently serves in the role as Coordinator of Vocational Experiences with the OIPE program at UMSL.

About

This presentation aims to expand attendees' knowledge of inclusive post-secondary options, like the Office of Inclusive Postsecondary Education at UMSL. Students are empowered to forge their paths through traditional employment and skill development, but also through independent living, social relationships, and academic support. This wholistic approach uses innovative techniques and tools to enhance vocational outcomes. This presentation will showcase how OIPE connects with community partners, helps families transform from caretakers to advisors, and facilitates a smooth transition to VR.
