In Summary:

Positive Behavior Supports is a positive approach to implementing specific strategies that can increase a person’s independence in all areas. Once a Job Coach builds rapport and becomes familiar with the person supported, they can observe behaviors within the workplace and identify barriers to successful employment. With careful planning and consulting with the person supported, strategies can be put in place to positively reinforce appropriate work and social behaviors. The job coach will follow-up by collecting data over time to ensure strategies effectiveness and adjust as needed, along with relevant reinforcers. Consequently, people supported are more likely to be included in their workplace and community, have a choice in creating their idea of a good life, participating in their goals, and having equal opportunities as people without disabilities.
