In this section you will read the chapter description, learning outcomes, and the format of the course.

This course has four chapters and each chapter has additional lessons. In addition, each chapter will have an introduction, content, and summary lessons to reinforce learning.

To maximize learning, the lessons are developed to be consumed in 10-20 minute segments with engaging questions and or resources to apply to real world situations. You are also encourage to complete these chapters with colleagues or have conversations with supervisors to maximize learning.

Chapter Description:

This interactive course will discuss how an intentional focus on professional engagement will have a direct impact on motivation and career development. The average person will spend 90,000 hours of their life at work. Intentionally pursuing professional behaviors that increase a sense of accomplishment, connection to others, increasing healthy emotions, promoting meaningful activities, and seeking work that aligns with personal values will decrease burnout and turnover. Moreover, knowing the developmental stages of career development will provide individuals with milestones to work towards and master as a means to maintain motivation and learning. The information learned will be geared for the professional providing services and the consumers receiving services.

Learning Outcomes:

At the completion of the training participants will be able to:

  1. Discuss the stages of career development and set action steps to progress in their career. 

  2. Define professional engagement and discuss actions to increase their professional well-being.   

  3. Understand motivation and how it impacts our career decisions.

  4. Apply techniques to increase a sense of personal and professional well-being.

  5. Develop strategies to use with their consumers to assess their professional engagement and career development.
