“In December of 2024 persons with a disability made up 41.3% of the labor force aged 16-64 in the United States.”
Welcome to Workplace Supports 102!
According to the Department of Labor in December of 2024 persons with a disability made up 41.3% of the labor force aged 16-64 in the United States. We as a country have made great strides toward inclusivity at work and in the community. These strides have included important legislature like the American Disabilities Act (ADA) and WIOA. In the State of Missouri bills have been passed to add increased funding for disability services. Due to these bills certain cities have funding to provide long-term employment support. The individuals that provide long-term support to people with differing abilities are called employment support specialists. It’s imperative that these specialists have a wide array of knowledge to address all workplace scenarios. This course will address a few common scenarios that employment specialists encounter.
Life often throws a curveball, for individuals with differing abilities this can cause undue stress and hardship. With Follow-Along supports individuals are better prepared to handle these stresses when they come. Through this training employment support specialists will get the answers to common questions participants using long term employment services ask. What types of benefits are available? I was injured on the worksite what do I do? I need to go in for a medical procedure what information do I give my employer? Using real scenarios and easily accessible resources this course will give support staff the tools they need to support individuals in the workforce with as much ease as possible.
